This Thursday's level 1 hike is to do the Chanterelle trail counterclockwise. I will be leading the hike for Tom.  We will start on the Hertz trail along Lake Whatcom and then (after 1 - 1.5 miles) begin to ascend the Chanterelle trail from there.  This includes the steps up (139? 329? I counted them going down, but don't remember), and on up to the "summit".  Not sure about stopping at the first lookout or not, we'll see.  Then we'll complete the loop, probably taking a little break to look at Lake Whatcom from the lookout before the final walk back to the trailhead.  Total mileage is 11 miles, 2600'el.  Car fare donation is a miniscule $1.  Discovery Pass not required.  

Current weather forecast + chance of rain after 11am/cloudy/hi 58.  Lake Whatcom weather can be wetter than in Bellingham, so prepare for rain.

Meet 8:15 at Sr. Center for 8:30 departure.
