On Tuesday we will go to Hoypus Hill (in Deception Pass State Park) and
Ala Spit. The hike is about 5 miles with a couple of hills but nothing
sever.
We start at Cornet bay and walk through the wooded Hoypus Hill. I
remember it as being a good place for Ocean Spray and it is probably in
bloom now. We end up on a neighborhood street and will walk a few
blocks to Ala Spit.
Ala Spit is a narrow, long, sandbar that projects into the Sea. The wind
and tide have covered it with driftwood, providing excellent places to
sit and have a snack. Often, there are waterfowl in the vicinity.
After refreshing ourselves at the spit we will return by a different
route to our cars and drive back to Bellingham.
As usual, we will meet in the Senior Center at about 8:15, divide up
unto cars, and head out at 8:30. A discover pass is required for parking.
